Ring handle with backplate

Central Europe, second half of 16th century

Malleable iron. The bar for the handle passes through the eye on the ring mount and is tied in a loose overhand knot with swaged ball terminals. Round backplate molten into a rosette and decorated with grooving and round punch marks.
